From Zero to FI

Road to FI Diary: January 2020

Net Worth

My net worth increased about $8K in January, which was a bit of a slowdown from December. Markets were fairly good, but there was a bit of volatility later in the month due to increasing concerns about the Coronavirus in China.

Spending

Spending was overall pretty typical for the month.

  • My Comcast bill went up about 5 bucks to almost $180. I wasn’t thrilled with my bill before the increase, so I’m really not liking the trend. I might need to finally bite the bullet and drop cable altogether (some will read this and think I’m a crazy person for holding on to cable for even this long).
  • I needed to buy more (generic) Aleve since I was running low. Even OTC medication is freakin’ expensive. A bottle of 200 pills was almost 11 bucks! (okay, maybe I’m just being cheap.)

Other Thoughts

I have been considering selling off some of my Apple stock, but I still feel very good about the fundamentals, and feel like the impacts of Corona will be fairly short lived. I also don’t need the money for anything, so I’m following the Buy and Hold Forever mantra.
